On Saturday, September 19, Sweetgreen welcomed the community to its new Princeton location at MarketFair with an inspiring opening day initiative: for every meal purchased, Sweetgreen pledged to donate a meal to Share My Meals.
Thanks to the incredible turnout from local residents, 400 fresh meals were generated on Opening Day to help nourish Mercer County neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
Celebrating with the Princeton Community
The Share My Meals team joined the Grand Opening festivities, tabling alongside local favorites Ooika, Bloombox Flowers, and Nicholas Creamery, connecting with visitors and sharing more about our mission and work throughout Mercer County.
Throughout the day, our team connected with visitors to share more about our mission to address food insecurity and food waste across our region. Every salad, bowl, and plate ordered gave guests a simple, direct way to make a difference—turning a delicious lunch into a donated meal for someone in need.
Strengthening Community Impact in Mercer County
Partnerships with community-minded businesses like Sweetgreen play a vital role in expanding our reach. Beyond the 400 meals generated on launch day, the event provided an invaluable platform to raise awareness about food recovery and local hunger relief. By uniting local businesses, community members, and Share My Meals, collaborations like this ensure that good, fresh food reaches those who need it most.
Every Meal Made an Impact
We are deeply grateful to the Sweetgreen team for embedding community giving directly into their Princeton launch. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by MarketFair, enjoyed a meal, and made Grand Opening Day meaningful.
