Driver to support the pickup and delivery of meals. Driver will use their vehicle (mileage reimbursed) and/or the organization’s van. Driver will interface with local corporations and other non-profit organizations as necessary to complete the recovery of meals and the donation of meals to those in need in NJ. $15-$18/hour.

  • The driver will pick up and deliver in Central, NJ including: Montgomery, Princeton, Lawrenceville, Ewing, and Trenton.
  • Expected hours of work: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturday morning for ~2 hours. (Some flexibility based on candidate)
  • Must have car and insurance (mileage reimbursement)
  • Involves lifting – up to 30lbs
  • Eligible to work in NJ
  • Ability to speak both English and Spanish is a plus

Share My Meals Mission

SMM is a Princeton, NJ-based non-profit organization that fights both food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste by recovering and delivering healthy meals to local communities.

Job Description:

As the Partnership and Outreach Associate, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our food rescue efforts and increasing our impact on communities in need. The primary focus of this position is to develop and nurture partnerships with food donors, particularly corporate cafeterias and food recipients such as community organizations. Additionally, you will lead special projects, volunteer training initiatives, survey conducting, statistical data analysis, and implementing a food insecurity advocacy plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Partnership Development:
    • Identify and engage with corporate cafeterias and other potential food donors to establish and maintain sustainable partnerships.
    • Collaborate with community organizations to enhance our food rescue network and community outreach efforts.
  2. Special Project Management:
    • Lead and coordinate special projects aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our food rescue operations.
    • Continuously seek to improve our data management system on Salesforce
    • Oversee volunteer training programs to ensure a skilled and engaged workforce.
  3. Impact Survey Conducting and Statistical Data Analysis:
    • Design and conduct surveys to gather valuable insights on our program effectiveness and how it supports food insecurity and food waste trends and community needs.
    • Analyze and interpret data related to food rescue operations, volunteer activities, and community impact to drive evidence-based decision-making.
  4. Advocacy:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive advocacy plan to be recognized to address food insecurity and food waste, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Create and maintain relationships with influential public policy figures to promote legislative changes supporting our mission.
    • Represent Share My Meals at forums, conferences, and events focused on food insecurity, food waste, and food safety regulations.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, fostering a positive organizational image.

Qualifications and Skills

 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with non-profit organizations, legislators, food donors, board members, volunteers, and other potential partners
  • Good understanding of the NJ non-profit landscape
  • Knowledge of the state and country-level public policies
  • Experience of statistics analysis and survey conducting
  • Experience building and maintaining cross-organization partnerships
  • Effective communication, including speaking, writing and active listening
  • Ability to give and receive feedback from a variety of stakeholders
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills, including as part of a cross-functional team
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently on projects
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities
  • Planning capabilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and flexibility
  • Proficient with Salesforce, Google Suite, Excel

Reporting to: Program & Outreach Director

Job Type: Full-time 

Compensation: $50k based on experience

Education: Bachelor in Social Work, Sociology, Public Health, Public Policy, Law, Nonprofit Management, Education, Environmental Studies (or foreign degree equivalent).

Experience: 6 to 12 months in a related occupation in a Non-Profit Organization.

License/Certification: Food Handler Certification.

Work Location: In-office, with the ability to travel in central and southern NJ. Will be required to travel to Princeton, NJ, daily for initial training, with a possibility for weekly remote work days in the future.
