Share My Meals Mission:

Created in 2020, Share My Meals is a Princeton, NJ-based non-profit organization that fights both food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste by recovering and delivering healthy meals to local communities. Share My Meals envisions a world where everyone has access to healthy meals and no food goes to waste.

Share My Meals is expanding its operations in and around New Jersey. We are seeking an engaging and experienced Senior Volunteer Associate to support our volunteer engagement efforts in NJ and neighboring PA and NY.  

Job Responsibilities: 

The Senior Volunteer Associate will be responsible for optimizing our volunteer program and growing and sustaining our volunteer base. This position will work to implement the organization’s recently developed Volunteer Strategy in coordination with the Program and Operations staff.  

SMM supports over 100 active volunteers that fall into one of the following categories:

Meal Recovery & Delivery: These volunteers pick up meals from donors and deliver them to our food hub in Princeton or to community partners and/or pick up meals from our food hub and deliver to families and seniors in the Princeton area.  

Corporate Partner Volunteers: These volunteers serve SMM through a partnership with their employer.  They pick up meals from their corporate cafeteria and deliver them to our food hub or to partner organizations.  In addition, we have a few partnerships with nonprofit recipient organizations utilizing their existing volunteers.

Skill-based volunteers: These volunteers support our organization in an ongoing way and/or for special projects. They provide essential support to our core operations and enhance our ability to innovate.  

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Implement proposed and consider new recruitment strategies 
  • Oversee the management of the volunteer onboarding process
  • Work closely with the volunteers in Volunteer Coordinator roles to optimize recruitment and streamline the onboarding process for new volunteers
  • Manage the Salesforce-related processes that support volunteer onboarding and reporting
  • Develop and manage a cadre of Mentor Volunteers who will provide shadowing opportunities for new volunteers
  • Manage current and develop new Corporate Volunteer Programs 
  • Facilitate Volunteer Advisory Council meetings and related Working Groups
  • Help implement Volunteer Impact Dashboards
  • Plan volunteer celebration events with staff support
  • Represent the organization at regular tabling events 
  • Provide reporting for Board and other key meetings
  • Participate in regular Program & Operations team meetings and collaborations.

Job Type: Full time 

Compensation:  $60,000 to 65,000 

Education: Bachelor’s (preferred)

License/Certification: Driver’s License and vehicle access (required)

Location: NJ – Remote, must be able to travel to Princeton on a regular basis and be willing to travel around the state and proximate PA and NY areas as needed.

Share My Meals is expanding its operations in New Jersey. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Operations Associate to join our Operations team to manage the daily operations of the Meal Recovery Program in Northern New Jersey.

Job Summary:

The Regional Operations Associate will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of Share My Meals in Mercer County, focusing on logistics, coordination of food recovery and distribution activities as well as equipment inventory management. This will include being the liaison with drivers, volunteers, food donors and recipients.

The ideal candidate should be highly organized, possess strong communication skills, and have a passion for making a positive impact in the community.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Manage Meal Recovery Logistics and Daily Operations

 

  • Plan and ensure the daily operations of the meal recovery program including the home delivery model
  • Prepare daily work such as schedules
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers/volunteers with necessary equipment to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, partners’ requests, or immediate needs
  • Reach out to volunteers for scheduled slots
  • Organize the timely and accurate delivery of food to designated locations
  • Ensure that the food safety protocol is respected in all aspects of operations
  • Foster strong relationships with food donors, partner organizations, recipients and volunteers
  • Manage the delivery equipment including the container tracking system
  • Organize and manage the food and storage hub in Princeton
  • Conduct occasional site visits in Mercer County
  • Train volunteers on the SMM technology

Communication and Reporting

 

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to coordinate and streamline operations
  • Communicate with the Operations/Program/Outreach team to resolve problems, requests for services or equipment
  • Compile and update reports on key operational metrics
  • Update database and platform with relevant information
  • Provide regular feedback to leadership on the status of operations and any challenges or opportunities.

Support special projects and initiatives as needed

Work Location: Onsite in Princeton, NJ with the option later for hybrid. Must be able to travel within the Mercer County area.

Driver to support the pickup and delivery of meals. Driver will use their vehicle (mileage reimbursed) and/or the organization’s van. Driver will interface with local corporations and other non-profit organizations as necessary to complete the recovery of meals and the donation of meals to those in need in NJ. $15-$18/hour.

  • The driver will pick up and deliver in Northern NJ including: Essex County, Morris County and Somerset County, amongst other new areas as we grow.
  • Expected hours of work: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturday morning for ~2 hours. (Some flexibility based on candidate)
  • Must have car and insurance (mileage reimbursement)
  • Involves lifting – up to 30lbs
  • Eligible to work in NJ
  • Ability to speak both English and Spanish is a plus
